Custom Stationery Process & Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in Invited Paperie! We are looking forward to meeting you and helping with the customization of your wedding invitation and other paperie needs.

Now that your appointment is scheduled, we will be sending you a brief questionnaire about the details of your wedding. This will help us to pull samples for you to see during our appointment and will also give us an idea about the overall “feel” and style of your wedding. If you do not have time to complete your questionnaire before your appointment time, no worries!

During our appointment, we will talk more about your vision for how your wedding day will look and what inspires you. This is a great time to show us your Pinterest board, swatches, or pictures. Your invitation and stationery items can help to set the tone for your wedding whether that is a rustic theme or a classic monogram with elegant calligraphy. We pride ourselves on taking your design and bringing it to life on paper – all within your timeline and budget!

When is the best time to begin working on invitations?

The invitation is the first peek your guests will have of your wedding. It creates anticipation, sets the mood, and builds the excitement. Once the date has been selected and the ceremony and reception venues are chosen, the inspiration for the wedding elements can begin. Looking through our invitation albums for the colors, fonts and designs is fun! Plan to spend 1-2 hours on your first visit to browse and to get informed so that you don’t feel pressure. You can then reflect on what you have seen.

During our meeting(s), you may browse samples from our albums and portfolio to find styles that you love! We will walk you through choosing your papers, fonts, and the different design elements you wish to use in your customized invitations, all while staying within your budget. We will also go over wording options for your invitation, the insert pieces (like reply card and details cards) so that we have all the information we need from you to begin the design work on your invitation suite.

The best time to begin work on your invitations is 3-4 months before the wedding date. Thankfully, with our many options and capabilities, we can work with you even if your wedding is only 6 weeks away!

All visits to our studio are complimentary.

How much do invitations cost?

Within one day of our first meeting, we will be able to give you estimates on your invitations, based on the styles you like and the selections you make.

The cost of an invitation is determined primarily by the paper selected (thickness, quality), the printing method (flat, thermography, letterpress or engraved), the quantities needed, and any additional embellishments that you select. The special touches that can be added like foil stamping, corner rounding, envelope liners, layered colors and any custom detail all add additional costs to the basic invitation. Cost also influences how many additional pieces you select for your invitation suite, such as weekend detail/accommodations cards, reply cards, etc.

As a general guideline, an invitation suite consists of an invitation, outer envelope, reply card, and reply envelope. Our invitation suite pricing begins at $4.00 for a suite. Please remember that you are not going to mail an invitation to every guest. Couples and households share invitations, which will affect your number of pieces ordered.

A revised Estimate will be sent when order changes result in an increase/decrease to the original estimate. 3 complimentary proofs are provided with each order. Additional proofs are $25 each. Express or drop shipments may be available at an additional cost.

How long does it take to get my invitations?

Once you have approved the initial estimate for your customized invitations, we will immediately begin to work on your design.

The first digital proof will be sent to you via email within 2-5 business days. Clients may make changes to their orders throughout the proof process. Additional proof(s) may follow based on changes. While we review all proofs carefully, clients are responsible to note their edits/changes. Please check all proofs carefully for who, what, when, where, why!

Email or signature approval of the final proof is an authorization to print.

We will not accept approvals via telephone; all approvals must be in writing. Client assumes all responsibility for final charges with approval of final proof.

Digital orders are typically delivered 10-12 business days after approval of the final proof. Letterpress/engraving orders are typically delivered 14-19 business days after approval of the final proof. Foil stamping or other customizations may require extra time. Rush service may be available at an increased cost.

How does the Proofing process work?

It is extremely important to thoroughly review all proofs and edits throughout the design process. While we review all proofs carefully, clients are responsible to note their edits/changes. Please check all proofs carefully for who, what, when, where, why!
